Emergency Communications Sent Directly to the Computer Desktop

Recent incidents are causing a timely evaluation of the alerting needs of schools and universities throughout the country. One powerful opportunity for notifying students and faculty during an emergency situation exists on the computer desktop. ActiveAccess Desktop application provides a powerful means of disseminating emergency information directly to the computer desktop within seconds.

Faculty and Staff through ActiveAccess Desktop Application

“GW Alert” Provides Real-Time Campus Security Emergency Notifications

How “GW Alert” Works

Emergency Notification

ActiveAccess delivers emergency notification, crime bulletins, weather alerts, news and more directly to the computer desktops of students, faculty, parents or anyone - where it cannot be missed.

ActiveAccess resides unobtrusively as a thumbnail-sized icon on the bottom right-hand corner of all users’ computer desktops. The application connects to the Internet automatically and uses less bandwidth than loading a single web page.

Urgent messaging can be sent as a text crawl across the bottom of the screen or as graphical alerts providing detailed emergency instructions and links to resources on the web. ActiveAccess delivers information to thousands during situations when every second is critical.

When activated by a school’s emergency management officials, a window pops open on the computer screen, right in front of the user. The emergency notification might be delivered as a text alert scroll along the bottom of the window and/or a graphical alert.

Both text scroll and graphical alerts can be hyperlinked to online sources for emergency response instructions and situation updates.

Connecting with Students

In addition to providing emergency notifications, ActiveAccess provides universities an avenue for easily and effectively delivering non-emergency communications on a day-to-day basis.

ActiveAccess can communicate many different types of important information such as localized weather forecasts, radar images, campus phone numbers, campus events, sports program information, student activities, faculty information and more.

ActiveAccess simplifies getting information out to students and faculty, providing additional value to the campus community even beyond emergency notifications and preparedness.

Robust Solution to Alert a Large Community All at Once

Communicating in emergency situations with a large campus population at any hour of the day is important; and a computer is often-times the single technology students and staff have operating round-the-clock.

When every moment is critical, ActiveAccess complements existing emergency management systems by reaching the under utilized computer desktop to immediately deliver up-to-the minute notifications.

ActiveAccess is also free of Adware, Spyware and cookies. It is a safe and secure communications solution that people can install on their computers.

“ActiveAccess will be our fastest way to notify the GW community of an incident. Although the university already employs several emergency communications tools GW Alert will complement those methods and will serve as our best way to reach large numbers of people quickly.”
