About Us
BIA Information Network is a leading provider of Branded Desktop Applications (BDAs) for the dynamic delivery of news, alerting, weather information, and personalized communications for media, government, educational institutions and the business enterprise.
Our flagship product, ActiveAccess, offers true, instant person-to-person communications directly to the computer desktop. Unlike other web-based notification systems, ActiveAccess operates in the background without the need of an Internet browser. When the desktop application is updated with content, an alert or when a news crawl is issued, the user is notified immediately, ensuring the message is delivered without any delay. Messaging can appear as scrolling text, pop-up alerts, audio or video alerts.
ActiveAccess is the perfect compliment for many different applications and scenarios. For the localized and widespread information sharing needs of any enterprise, school, team or association, ActiveAccess delivers a brand and messaging instantly to the audience. For those on the frontlines of emergency services in local, state or nationwide capacities, ActiveAccess streamlines communication between government, media, utilities, and the general public in the event of future disasters or emergencies.
ActiveAccess has captured the attention of universities as a means of notifying students, both on and off campus, of emergencies as well as campus activities. Similarly, many private and public businesses and organizations have purchased the ActiveAccess for internal communications and marketing purposes. The program is suited for large or small networks with full scalability including built in cache server capabilities. The ActiveAccess application operates from dual data centers, with fully staffed 24/7 customer service, and offices in the U.S. and Europe.
Proven and reliable, ActiveAccess was the first-of-its-kind severe weather warning system for personal computers. The system was fully operational during the horrific tornados that claimed 48 lives in Oklahoma on May 3, 1999. During the tornado warning, a local television station sent identical graphic, text and audio warnings to the personal computer set as well as the television via DIN. The application was also credited as a life saving tool for those working at their computers and not watching TV.
