BIA's Downloadable Desktop Application Delivers Sports Updates, Scores, Events and Gameday Information to Alumni, Students and Fans.
CHANTILLY, VA, (November 28, 2007) BIA Information Network, (http://www.activeaccess.com)
a leading provider of desktop applications, announced today it has teamed with
Penn
State University's Athletic Department to launch its ActiveAccess branded
desktop application for
a new portal website available to all fans of the Nittany Lions. The
application, PSU Sports Desktop http://gopsusports.cstv.com/ot/aa_images.html,
is designed to keep alumni, students, faculty, and
fans updated on sports news, scores, events, and critical game day information
24/7 through a
light-weight download that continuously streams onto their PC without having to
access the
school's website or email.
Available
now through the official website of Penn State Intercollegiate Athletics -
http://gopsusports.com
- PSU Sports Desktop offers the University a communications tool
with the furthest reach and ability to keep fans updated, informed and part of
the campus
community. National and local sponsors of

"We
want the most efficient and compelling method to instantly communicate
information to our 27
sports teams. The ActiveAccess application provided the best tool we had come
across to
satisfy the appetite of our fans," said Gregory J. Myford, Associate
Director for Marketing
and Communications at Penn State.
"Through PSU Sports Desktop we have the ability to keep fans updated
round-the-clock in an
enjoyable interactive environment. We can also provide another method for our
advertisers to reach
our fan base."
The
GoPSUsports website generates up to six million page view per month and attracts
more
than 2.3 million unique visitors annually. The PSU Sports Desktop will
complement and drive
traffic to GoPSUsports by alerting users to new postings and details. Since the
application
sits on a computer desktop, it can provide information even before a user
activates their web
browser. Additionally, Penn State is able to send out targeted communications
for their
respective alumni or other sports fan based on the information each user
provides at sign-up.
The school can also collaborate with advertisers by tying-in advertising and
promotions.

"Our
collaboration with Penn State demonstrates the dimensions of ActiveAccess as a
brand
extension for sports teams," said Rodger Melchori, Director of Sales for
BIA Information Network.
"Sports fans are fervent in their consumption of team news and information
and ActiveAccess
has the ability to keep the communication - and the loyalty - open between team
and fan."
PSU Sports Desktop is a non-intrusive, light-weight program containing no adware,
spyware or
spam. It can be installed at work or at home and will not slow down a company's
network or
use much RAM or hard drive space. It can be downloaded directly from http://gopsusports.cstv.com/ot/aa_landing.html#signup.
