ActiveAccess Launches "SNCR Byte" Desktop Application To Engage Members of Society for New Communications Research With News and Information
Web 2.0 Technology Provides Think Tank With Means to Communicate More Quickly and Efficiently
CHANTILLY, VA, October 3, 2008 – ActiveAccess (http://www.activeaccess.com), a digital content delivery platform offered by BIA Information Network (BIN), announced today that it has designed and launched "SNCR Byte," a dynamic desktop application, to be used by the Society for New Communications Research (http://sncr.org), a Palo Alto-based think tank dedicated to the study of the latest developments in new media and communications. After downloading to a computer, "SNCR Byte" will provide its members current news and information, announcements on the release of new research, events and programs, and audio and video content streamed directly to the user's desktop.

The "SNCR Byte"
application will provide critical information to their members.
"SNCR Byte" will also provide access to a separate screen offering the SNCR publication website, New Communications Review (http://www.newcommreview.com), complete with its daily news, tips, tidbits, featured videos and podcasts, and industry blog listings. The application will also push alerts to users based on geography and industry interests.
"As a progressive new media organization we find value in ActiveAccess for the effect it can have on traditional methods of business communication and the level of service we can provide to our members" said Jennifer McClure, executive director of the Society for New Communications Research. "ActiveAccess provides us with an innovative new communications tool that enables us to reach our audience in new ways."
ActiveAccess can operate in any PC environment and does not interfere with corporate servers or network environments. (A Mac version of the application is planned for release in Q1 2009.) Once installed, the "SNCR Byte" icon will appear on a user's desktop. It can be activated with a mouse click or by SNCR itself when it needs to issue scrolling text or alerts to its members. This feature appealed to SNCR because it allows them to immediately get the attention of their members and Fellows whenever necessary in a customizable way.
"Associations such as SNCR benefit from ActiveAccess' unique content delivery platform because they can communicate using a method that makes them stand out from the daily news and information noise," said Tom Buono, president and CEO of BIA Financial Network, parent company of BIA Information Network. "The application's ability to target information through zip code and other user preferences also adds to its dynamic ability to reach one hundred or one thousand members at once."
Members and non-members of SNCR will be able to access the desktop application through a light-weight download that requires about as much memory as a single webpage, containing no adware, spyware or malware. The application is flexible in the sense that it can be customized in many ways. Once installed it only requires access to the Internet.
