Debunking the Application Myths
Myth: The ActiveAccess Desktop Application uses a lot of network Bandwidth.
Reality: Running the application for an hour uses about as much bandwidth as loading a single web page.
Myth: The ActiveAccess Desktop Application uses a lot of CPU.
Reality: Running the ActiveAccess Application for an hour in the worst-case scenario with full warnings and ad rotations in effect, and with the user clicking and zooming radar, the application uses about two-tenths of one percent of the total CPU time. It has normal spikes when performing complex tasks, such as startup and shutdown, but the overall use is extremely low.
Myth: The ActiveAccess Desktop Application uses too much RAM.
Reality: The application uses less RAM than similar applications, and is a well-behaved Windows citizen that turns over unused memory when the system needs it for other applications.
Explanation: The application uses on average between 8MB and 11MB of RAM in normal use, and up to 20MB of RAM when performing complex actions such as Radar zooming. This is less RAM than Internet Explorer uses, which is about 30MB.
Myth: The ActiveAccess Desktop Application contains spyware or adware.
Reality: The application does not contain any spyware or adware, and does not install any applications that do. A full security document is available for further information.
Explanation: The ActiveAccess Desktop application is professional software that is sold through normal media, corporate, and government sales channels. It earns money directly via client sales. ActiveAccess does not have any ties with any application or company that uses or installs spyware or adware of any kind.
Myth: ActiveAccess slows down the network if a lot of people run the app
Reality: ActiveAccess has a built-in automatic cache server that connects directly to ActiveAccess and disseminates the updated data (only if new data exist) to the other apps on the network therefore eliminating the “clogging” of the company’s Internet connection.
Myth: The ads that rotate within the ActiveAccess application are adware.
Reality: Ads placed in the ActiveAccess application are designed into the application and come only from ActiveAccess and the trusted media clients and partners.
Myth: ActiveAccess secretly collects and transmits personal information
Reality: In no case does ActiveAccess secretly collect or transmit any personal information. All information provided to ActiveAccess is provided by direct end-user entry of the information. The end-user is in complete control of any information provided to ActiveAccess.
